While new to Alberta, Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) programs are well established in other jurisdictions. First implemented in California in 2008, PACE programs have expanded within the United States with approximately 50 active commercial and residential PACE programs, resulting in over $7.5 billion in investment.
PACE is gaining traction in Canada, with active residential programs in Ontario (City of Toronto); and Nova Scotia (Halifax, Town of Amherst, Town of Bridgewater, District of Barrington, Municipality of Cumberland, District of Digby, District of Lunenburg, District of Yarmouth).
