Flexible low-cost Financing for Energy-Saving Home Renovations

Start saving sooner than you think

Alberta households spend almost $5,000 a year on energy costs. There is big money to be saved from sealing leaky windows, insulating attics, and replacing inefficient furnaces. You can save even more by generating your own electricity with rooftop solar panels.

The only question is how to finance the cost of these upgrades. With the Clean Energy Improvement Program, you can start saving sooner than you think.

How we help residential property owners

The Clean Energy Improvement Program is a new way to finance energy efficiency upgrades and renewable energy upgrades. The project financing is attached to your regular property tax bill, so you make repayments to your municipality.
The many benefits to this approach include:

  • Access to competitive interest rates
  • Long repayment terms (up to 20 years for some upgrades)
  • Paying off the project’s balance at any time

How much energy could you save?

Many factors influence the actual energy savings of an upgrade. These include your home’s location, condition, size and type, as well as its heating and cooling loads, local weather, relative humidity, the efficiency of your existing equipment, and the quality of installation.

Your EnerGuide Home Energy Evaluation reports (required as part of the CEIP process) provide the best estimate of potential energy savings for your home. Your Energy Advisor can also help answer any questions about expected savings.
